Lens Sources for FOV2GO

Here are some links to some of the lenses and optics that we’ve been using for FOV2GO.

UltraOptix SV-2LPLED 7X Aspheric LED Lighted Magnifier

A handle magnifier with a plastic aspheric lens with a diameter of about 1 1/2″, suitable for phones and tablets. The lens should be mounted about 1 3/4 inches (or 44mm) from the screen. The lens can be popped out of the handle by gently pressing against it; if that doesn’t work, wrap a hammer in a towel and give it a gentle tap.

UltraOptix SV-3LPLED 4X Aspheric LED Lighted Magnifier

A handle magnifier with a plastic aspheric lens with a diameter of about 3″, suitable for tablet viewers. The lens should be mounted about 3 1/2 inches (or 88mm) from the screen. The lens can be popped out of the handle by gently pressing against it; if that doesn’t work, wrap a hammer in a towel and give it a gentle tap. To mount two of them side by side, about 1/4″ has to be cut off of the side of each lens; another cut should be made at about a 35 degree angle to make room for your nose.

Carson LL-77 LumiLoupe Stand Magnifier

A dual lens glass loupe with a transparent acrylic base, suitable for tablet viewers. To mount two of them side-by-side in a FOV2GO viewer, the acrylic base has to be cut off (its diameter is 3 inches, and the lenses need to mounted 2 1/2 inches apart). The base can be cut off about 1/4″ below the lens assembly, leaving a nice flange for mounting in a viewer. Unscrew the black cap that holds the lenses in place, push the assembly through a 2 1/4″ hole in the viewer, then screw the black cap back on.

Holga 120 3D Slide Viewer

Designed to view side-by-side Holga 120 3D Stereo Camera image pairs, these can be adapted for tablet viewers by removing the plastic diffuser.

Pinsharp Viewer

A plastic viewer for side-by-side 35mm image pairs, these can be adapted for phone viewers by removing the diffusers, or the lenses can be popped out and used directly in a foam board viewer.
